About Sabah Malaysian Borneo Blog - Hello and welcome to this blog. The website you are reading right now is a tourism blog also a tourism website from another point of view.
A blog is a personal website maintained by an individual with main intention of publishing new content - as new as possible as fresh as possible.
Here's the objective of this blog...
• To publish useful pieces of information on holiday destinations, interesting places and vacation spots in Sabah Malaysian Borneo as a travel guide and travel advice to a blog reader. We do our own research to study the authenticity of the information we receive before we publish it.
• Enjoying the process of writing new blog posts, traveling, touring, and taking photos, then write a new blog post again. We love writing about holiday destinations, places of interest, attractions, and vacation spots in Sabah Malaysian Borneo - it's our passion.
• To solve a big problem of lack of fresh content about attractions and little known interesting place to visit in Sabah Malaysian Borneo in the shape of blog posts or website articles written by local Sabahans.
• To provide the best reading material to help blog visitors in their holiday trip planning for their next journey to Sabah Malaysian Borneo.
• To publish fresh content as fresh as possible, as new as possible as many as possible - all about Sabah Malaysian Borneo, as detail as possible.
The blog writer behind this blog is a professional worker working full time in a tourism company based in Wisma Sabah, in Kota Kinabalu city center, Sabah, for many years.
Why We Choose To Use Blogspot Even Though We've Been Blogging Since 2007
We believe we need to say this.
We are not new bloggers simply you saw that we use Blogspot at the time you arrive here.
Here's our story...
• On March 2020 we officially lost our job because of the Covid-19 pandemic which pushes the Malaysian government to close the international border for all travelers or tourists from another country. The tourism company we worked for during previous years does not have any customers since January 2020 - so the company cant pay our monthly salary because the company does not have any profit and doesn't have money to survive as a business entity.
• The same also goes for most tourism companies, tour operators, tour agents, and all tour guides in Kota Kinabalu city center. Most of them closed their tourism operation or out of the tourism business because no customers - and no travelers or tourists to serve as their customers.
• Tourism industry in Kota Kinabalu got hit very bad by Covid-19. Even the local government can't do anything to help - because Malaysia closed its international border. Tourists and travelers from any other country are not allowed to enter.
• Since that we don't have our monthly salary anymore, life started getting hard because we don't have any job. Every day is a stressful day. We have to rely on our savings. Because we rely on our saving we don't want to spend our money on anything else other than buying food to continue living, pay rent for our rented apartment where we live in Kota Kinabalu city center any to buy supplies for our kitchen so we have something to eat every day while being under Conditional Controlled Movement Order.
• We don't want to spend any money on hosting space, on the domain name, on paid plugins, and on a paid professional WordPress theme to run this blog as a professional tourism blog as we planned before in December 2019. We need at least 400 MYR to build this blog to become a professional tourism blog. But right now during these hard times, 400 MYR is too big for us - we could buy a supply of food or about 4 weeks with that amount of money. We think we need to tell this publicly to highlight how hard it is when you suddenly lost your job because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
• We've been a self-hosted WordPress user since July 2007. We've built about 350++ WordPress blogs for our clients and about 50 self-hosted WordPress websites for the company we worked for. We've built for about 300++ Blogspot blogs since 2007 - all for doing content business and for our micro niche blogs. We are an expert in web design and search engine optimization.
• So we decided to continue writing stories on this Blogspot blog because we want to use a blogging platform that totally FOCUSED ON CONTENT without being annoyed by ads that ask us to 'upgrade' to enterprise packages, as you can see in Wordpress.com blogs and Wix.com. Blogspot is from Google. We understand that Blogspot has restrictions but we know how to handle it professionally. We've been using Blogspot for our content marketing effort since 2007 - about 13 years ago. We tried Wordpress.com, Wix and Weebly. But we prefer Blogspot. Because of its simplicity of use.
• So here we are - still writing on this Blogspot blog. It is free anyway and we don't have to pay any money for the domain, for hosting, and for cloud storage spaces to keep our photos. Since we don't have to pay anything we can focus on creating content here. Starting from June 2020 you will have to pay for additional spaces more than 15GB to keep all your photos in Google Photos - but in Blogspot, you don't have to pay anything because photos in Blogspot are saved in Picasa, which is different from Google Photos.
• To be honest we are more concerned and more focused on what topics to write rather than comparing or debating which blogging platform we should use, either Blogspot, WordPress, Joomla, Wix, or Weebly. That will kill our inspiration. All of those are only tools only - all depends on what you use them. For us right now the most important thing is to write articles as guides to other people so they can explore more interesting places in Sabah Malaysian Borneo. We don't want to focus on technical stuff anymore. We just wanna write, write, write.
• We choose to continue using Blogspot for this blog because we want to focus 100% on creating new content as many as possible. We understand we don't have control as Google can close our blog anytime they want. But, looking back at our history of using Blogspot since 2007, most of our Blogspot blogs are still 'alive' today - all because we use them by following Terms and Conditions set by Google. We use Blogspot for good cause and for the reason of publishing good content for internet users, not for manipulating Google products for blackhat SEO or to get quick money from advertisements.
• Blogspot is not for newbies only. It is also for experts who want to fully utilize free products made by an internet company and don't have much money to pay for hosting and domain (like us) and any blogger who doesn't want to be distracted by technical problems in a self-hosted blog (we've been there!). Everybody has their own reason why they do blogging. We have ours - we write blog because we love to write about the topic we love most - tourism activity in Sabah Malaysian Borneo.
• As blog writers we did not even compare our blog with other blogs out there. We focus our effort, our energy, and our attention on what we want to write about. Everybody has their own challenges and choices, so we choose to continue to use Blogspot because we choose to, because we believe in Google products. We've been using Blogspot for 13 years and Gmail since 2006. We also have been using self-hosted WordPress for 13 years.
But to be honest we enjoy using Blogspot more than WordPress. We hope after reading this you can understand why we use Blogspot for our writings. We did not monetize this blog and did not put any ads or paid links in this blog as a source of income.
If you really want us to migrate to self-hosted WordPress please support us and help us by donating MYR 400 to us so we can migrate to a professional blog as you want us to be.
Right now we don't have that amount of money to spend on a blog - because to keep surviving without a job and without a salary is our priority right now.
So we just keep writing new posts on this 'Blogspot' blog. We don't want to get involved in this kind of negative thinking. We just want to write blog posts.
